PADI recently introduced a route for tec instructors to become TecRec Instructor Trainers without also having to be a PADI Course Director and ran our first course this month at EMEA HQ in Bristol, UK!

This allows for two different routes to become a Tec Deep Instructor Trainer (the first level of TecRec IT) both requiring considerable commitment to gaining experience at instructor levels before joining an Instructor Trainer course where candidates develop and refine the knowledge and skill to teach instructors levels.

Like the Course Director Training Course (CDTC), the Tec Rec Instructor Trainer Course takes the best applicants from around the world which means that they benefit from each others’ experience as well as the intensive TecRec Instructor Training Course.

During the course candidates practised organising and conducting instructor courses as well as demonstrating a high level of personal skill as instructors.

It was great to see so much camaraderie and cooperation between the team as they worked together and made the course fun for all.
The course covers teaching and evaluating tec instructors in all areas; knowledge development, practical application, confined/limited open water and open water, so is an intense and demanding experience.

With each dive it was great to see the increasing confidence in taking the role of the instructor trainer.

After a very busy and intense week’s training, the team proudly donned their TecRec T-shirts for the final group pic.

Thanks to all our new TecRec Instructor Trainers and the amazing tec team here at PADI for all their energy, input and enthusiasm.
Watch this space for information regarding the next TecRec ITC – we’ll be announcing dates, location and application requirements later this year!
