Diving Revolution: New lifetime oxygen sensor from Poseidon

Diving revolution: New lifetime oxygen sensor gives failsafe diving
Poseidon Diving Systems proudly presents the next generation oxygen Solid State Sensor.
”This is a true breakthrough in oxygen sensing for many applications and in particular for diving using closed circuit rebreather”, says Jonas Brandt, CEO, Poseidon Diving Systems AB.
Poseidon’s new invention, based on 5 years of research and development, is an oxygen sensor with unique luminescent dyes, which are excited with red light and show an oxygen dependent luminescence in the range of near infrared light (NIR). This technology impresses by its high precision, high reliability, low power consumption, low cross sensitivity, and fast response times.
Compared to today’s galvanic oxygen sensors, these new solid state sensors show unsurpassed shelf life, operational life time and calibration stability.
Poseidon will introduce the new sensors during TekDiveUSA in Miami, Florida, 22nd – 24th of April (www.tekdiveusa.com) and will start shipping later this year. Together with the advanced dive computer, the Poseidon M28, the Solid State Sensor will be part of Poseidon’s Dive-by-wire™ suite of products, making Poseidon’s leading technology available to all rebreather divers.
Sold State Sensor
“The sensor is factory calibrated and absolutely gives the diver advantages that previously weren’t available in terms of rapid and reliable readings of the breathing gas. The diving community has waited for many years for a sensor like this and the Solid State Sensor is considered as one of the “holy grails” of diving”, says Jonas Brandt CEO, Poseidon Diving Systems AB.
A real game changer
“This is the most exciting development in rebreather technology I’ve seen in years! I think it represents a real game-changer. The thought of never needing to replace or calibrate an oxygen sensor ever again is simply mind-blowing”, says Richard L. Pyle, Database Coordinator for Natural Sciences, Associate Zoologist in Ichthyology, Dive Safety Officer Department of Natural Sciences, Bishop Museum, Honolulu.
Founded in Sweden in 1958, Poseidon has been a leader in innovation, quality and safety in the diving industry for over 50 years. Poseidon’s revolutionary recreational rebreather, the Discovery MKVI, allows recreational divers to enjoy the many great benefits of rebreathers. Benefit s include tripling average dive time,
warm breathing gas and silent, bubble-free operation that allows divers to become part of the underwater environment and not just visitors.
